what you need to know
PVC or Polyvinyl Chloride is a thermoplastic single-ply membrane roofing system and has a long history of performance. These systems primarily are chosen where performance characteristics such as chemicals, industrial pollutants, and harsh environments exist. These conditions potentially, speaking in life cycle costing terms, make this system more cost-effective long term in these extreme conditions. New construction, restorative recovery, and re-roof replacement applications all are a good fit for PVC single-ply membranes. Possible attachments are fully adhered, mechanically attached, and wind-driven systems. The standard color is white or off-white. PVC membranes are also available for hybrid multi-ply and fleece-backed systems. PVC comes in a thickness range of .036 to .080 mils depending on the manufacturer of choice. PVC membrane also has different variations of the product that need to be considered when determining the proper PVC roof product for your commercial roof assembly.
